[A short while later, Ghost made his way over to Dash and Cross' house of love residence.]

[Coffee was brewing, making the whole house smell good. Dash answered the door, stepping aside to let Ghost in.]

[Dash closed the door and went to the kitchen table, sitting down and looking at Ghost seriously.]

I want to know if you're up to a bit of a vigilante action.

[Ok. Definitely not where he expected the convo to be going. He followed Dash to the kitchen table.]

Are we talking pitchforks and torches kind of action or something a bit more subtle and organized?

[He can't help but feel a thrill of recognition and excitement at Dash's suggestion.]

[Dash watches Ghost. This whole thing feels familiar, the organizing a team thing. Not exactly like he's done it before, but then his memories would indicate the last time he was the one being recruited, not the one doing recruiting.]

I'm not really a pitchfork kinda guy, so I guess it'll have to be option two. Cross and I, we're kind of sick of the whole runaround, you know? We want to protect people, and we want to get to the bottom of this place. And we think we're going to need help doing either, let alone both.

[As for Ghost, if he had his memories, he would have been able to acknowledge that this scenario was novel for him--being ASKED instead of forced to join something for once. As it was it just felt cool.]

You and Cross huh? I can't say I'm that surprised that it's you two coming up with this. Sounds fun.

But--I gotta ask since it relates to my sister and Spike--what about the Guard?

[Dash shrugged, getting up to go pour them both some coffee. Having options was good--he'd be the last person to pressgang someone onto his side, it wasn't his style.]

I figure what we do hasn't got shit to do with the guard--they have their job, we don't want to interfere, right? Like I said, we're not in the pitchforks business, but we're not in the protecting cocoons business either. I figure we should have two priorities.

[He came back to the table, setting one mug in front of Ghost and sitting down with the other.]

One, getting to the bottom of... Well, everything. That has nothing to do with the guard anyway. Two, we'll be in the business of helping people out--I don't care what, getting kittens out of trees or daring rescue operations, fighting zombie hordes, that'll be us too. I figure we can work with the guard in a crisis, but we aren't bound by their rules, we're our own unit--it gives us more freedom but it means we have to be more careful. I want this team not to really be big on adults--that's what the guard is for. We're something else.

[Dash was definitely saying all the right things, and he liked that he was keen on respecting the Guard's authority by staying out of their way. Although Ghost was uneasy with their authority in the sphere, his family devoted themselves to the group. He didn't want to have to chose between loyalties.]

Well, I know for a fact that one man cannot figure out this place alone.

[Instinctively, one hand moved to rub at the right side of his neck, the place where he'd been tree-shanked months ago. Of course since his death and rebirth the scars were now faint like a decade old set of wounds.

After a moment he moved his hand to the cup Dash had given him.]

There are definitely things the Guards miss because they're authority that we'd be in a better position to see. As long as we let them do their thing and we do ours I'm more than cool with it. Helping people--I can definitely get behind that. I can handle saving a few kittens from trees if it means that things start to get freak'n DONE around here. I'm sick of waiting.

Hell yes. Where do I sign up?

[Dash wasn't really keen on authority himself. But he could respect it. Sort of. Structure had it's place, but he never felt comfortable with it--he preferred to have more freedom. Confining himself to hierarchy didn't sit well with him.]

Yeah. It'll be dangerous, but what's life without a little excitement? Anyway, I don't want to deal with the Guard unless we have to--I don't think people are going to be that keen on us to begin with anyway, that goes double for the Guard. We really don't want to get in their hair, or let them get in ours. We don't want them to think we're theirs. Their authority has nothing to do with us, and we don't have their authority, and all that.

I hear you. I'm sick of sitting on my thumbs too. I'm fed up with playing it safe. [He raised his mug.] Here's a toast Big G, consider yourself signed on. I'll get in touch with you when I've talked to the other candidates, we can have a friendly ol' meeting of the new team and play meet and greet.

I figure everyone should get to know each other, train together, that sorta thing.

Training you say? I got a few ideas there. I'm sure with your speed, my mad skills and whatever the rest of your "candidates" have, we're bound to get something done--or explode things trying.

[After the clink of mug meeting mug, Dash took a long gulp of coffee. Nothing beat coffee, really.]

I'm kinda counting on it. It's you, me, Cross, Code, Rabbit and Alchemy so far on the list. Rabbit's nominated Eyepatch and said he'll talk to him. I'm kinda half sold on Cara except, well, she's a guard. I'm not really keen on crossing those boundaries, or making her choose.

Yeah I dunno about Cara. It's not fair to ask her to risk her job ya know? But it doesn't mean she can't be one of our contacts on the Guard I guess.

Eyepatch though, once you get over that addiction he has, he's pretty cool. What about Bridge or Pinky? Or maybe not even Bridge because he may not want to lie to Sky, but Pinky--she's from the same place as me so she's probably as much of a superhero as I was.

Pinky huh? I'd be cool with her if you can vouch for her, I've only talked to her once or twice but she seems alright.

I vouch. She's smart, social and totally moves in different circles than you or me. That alone makes her a good asset. Plus I know she was close with that guy Roswell--he was keen to figure shit out so it's possible she knows some things we don't.

You can always bring her in later after you get to know her too. But I think you'll like her.

Alright, that'd be good. We need someone to make the team look respectable, right? She sounds like she'd be perfect for a lot of reasons. Do you want to pitch it to her, Big G, or should I? If you say she's cool, I trust your word on it.
